Altho they all have good snare sound, listening very closely, I can hear a slight hollowed tomtom sound on the Tama. Personally I like more of a short crisp ratatatat with no tomtom or echo type sound at all, not even a hint of it. I would pick the Yamaha Steve Jordan model or the Gretsch. I voted for the Steve Jordan Yamaha.
